yes pci-network card
OK. I donât know when exactly, but there were some problems with that driver not that long ago. Especially with some early 6.x kernels AFAIR. Debian uses 6.1.x while Mint uses 6.8.x. So the idea is to make sure, that you are using Qubes with the latest available kernel image (6.12.x). Please try the following:
- power down the machine
- pull the power plug
- unplug any USB devices and network cables
- press the power button a few times (or the dip switch on your power supply if it has one) to make sure all capacitors are completely âdryâ
- plug in usb mouse and keyboard (nothing else)
- insert power plug
- try to boot up Qubes
If it manages to get past that whonix-init (it will take a little bit), replug the network and do some sudo qubes-dom0-update kernel-latest
in a dom0 terminal.
If not, try reinstalling from the latest iso and make sure you select âlatest kernelâ during installation (if the option is still available â if not, you are already getting a newer kernel).
HTH!
lets see
should i try downgrade bios?
I canât say. As long as the machine posts, everything SHOULD be ok.
But then again: all those fancy pants auto adjust / âoverclockingâ features are not that transparent. Will they âre-calibrateâ with every boot? I personally would sacrifice some percent of performance any time for constant settings and stability. Are there any changelogs to see, what the BIOS revisions did/changed?
Please (re)try burning the stick with rpi-imager.
re BIOS: I wouldnât go back further than 2.10 since it fixed USB errors. But then again 3.18 with fixing DRAM-timings seems important, too. As long as there is no regression âŚ
IM DONE. Same shit every time, i should back on my 10 virtualboxs
Then itâs not the kernel. The above posted image relies on 6.13.x. At what point does it stall? Is it whonix again?
Freeze during configuration step âSetting up Networkingâ
Could you eventually disable UEFI in BIOS and switch to legacy mode? (And disable the RealTek-Ethernet in BIOS âŚ)
legacy USB was enabled uefi idk
Then at least try to disable the network controller ⌠details here:
i will buy new mobo next month, tganks for help
OK. Please write back, when itâs done. And donât forget to check âŚ
u know which will be good for 7800x3d motherboard?
I am having the same exact issue on a fresh install, I followed the âfixâ on this post and disabled âXHCI Hand-offâ in my BIOS settings: Link
This did not fix the issue for me.
This issue only occurs on kernel versions after 6.6.77-1, for example it occurs on version 6.12.21-1.
I have reinstalled QubesOS to try to resolve this issue and have updated my BIOS, yet nothing seems to fix it. I am forced to use kernel version 6.6.77-1 to avoid issues on startup after entering my encryption password.
The freeze on version 6.12.21-1 occurs just like this post mentioned, in the exact same manner.
Going to try following this step, will update
