Remarks

  • New User: can’t upload HCL .yml, hence the format of the submission.
  • Everything (Tested) Works.
  • Machine has 32GB RAM, so no noticeable resource drawbacks.
  • Networking (specifically: Ethernet) was an issue under 4.2.1, but in-place upgrade to 4.2.4 resolved any issues.
  • a working sys-audio qube works, as expected.

Untested

  • Mic (don’t use it much, but will attempt a usage test)
  • Cam (ditto: hardly ever use, will test and report back)
  • Suspend - will test and report back… have been configuring and attempting daily driver use, since install.

Does it result in kernel lock up when removing power cable?

@fdhhjigf ; nope.
Honestly, no issues at all - biggest issues… are … / customizing my terminals w/ nerd fonts…

I spend most days in the terminal - so having nice readable fonts is a nice soft spot on the sofa…

I’ve been able to re-create a very workable setup from several of my other machines, using the templates.

  • vpn
  • sdn (tailscale)
  • tor
  • sys-audio
  • sys-net (using Open-BSD)
  • parrotOS qube
  • arch cube (because of course…)
  • … +more

All, sans issue.

Then this machine intel version should go to community recommendations, I think. As I own AMD one and I had problems with kernel freezes and WiFi, rest everything is smooth. But that device cannot be recommended because of these major issues.

I’ll test the other stuff that I mentioned:

  • Microphone
  • Camera
  • Suspend
  • … then move/ add to Community Recommendations.
  • Sorry to hear about your experience… this architecture has been a dream so far.

Isn’t 64GB RAM possible on device?

You are right it’s supported in T16 gen 3. Sorry.

32GB is still snappy as hell.
No complaints honestly.

And I normally have several service (net, usb, audio, vpn, sdn) qubes running +several 3-4 work related qubes, with apps running.

Fans don’t kick in unless some app is mis-behaving.
