Hello to everyone.
Im facing with a problem using brave browser or vivaldi browser using a VM (both fedora or deb) linked to a netVM mullvadVPN. Firefox works really well and mullvad vpn works fine too. When I utilize other browser like Brave it says “this site can’t be reached, try - checking the connection - checking the proxy and the firewall”.
I tried to changes a lot of settings, removed extensions, set no proxy… but nothing.
It can be useful, i set my mullvad vpn following this guide: Mullvad on Qubes OS 4 .
Thank you

My guess is you have a DNS problem, and Firefox is configured to do its own DNS resolving using DoH or DoT.
In the web browser qube, open a terminal and try
ping qubes-os.org
does it display an IP?

yes, it shows me the ip address
Do you have Qubes OS 4.1?
This guide shouldn’t work for Qubes OS 4.2:
iptables rules are no longer effective in Qubes OS 4.2.0 and newer.

This Qubes 4.2 guide should work for you:
Intro
This guide explains how to setup a a VPN with Mullvad app on Qubes OS 4.2 using a Fedora template.
Mullvad app is open source and they provide repositories for fedora / debian, there are no documentation to deploy the App, only an official page explaining how to setup WireGuard , or a community guide for Mullvad WireGuard without the App
The App supports OpenVPN and WireGuard tunnels. Bridge support is available for OpenVPN and WireGuard has obfuscation available, these features are usefu…
If you want a non-GUI setup I would recommend this wireguard guide:
Good news, with fedora-38 the network manager supports Wireguard out of the box!
The only thing required are extra firewall rules in the VPN qube, as explained in the community documentation about VPN .
What you’ll need
This guide assumes you are using a VPN service that has wireguard support, most of them do, but you can also add your own if you have a server.
ProtonVPN has a free plan, it has limits but gives you a fully working VPN and they support WireGuard. This pro…
In this guide you will also find a very simple solution for VPN harding:
