I finished installing qubes os for me to mainly use Whonix. Now I heard about Anon Whonix and that you should use a VPN for that. How is it in general? Should I use a VPN for Whonix or not? Or do you only need one for anon whonix?

Anon-Whonix is an AppVM with Whonix applications
You can use Whonix with or without a VPN
Here are examples of a combination of Tor and VPN
