Trying to setup a new audio qube but starting qube restarts the whole OS/computer

So for now, I’ve chosen to do setup a new audio qube using this guide but without making it a default audio qube for the other qubes I have.

The problem is that when I start it, it leads to the whole OS restarting itself. Why does this happen?

If it helps, I want the audio qube because it will allow me to easily use bluetooth with Qubes OS.

Thanks in advance for reading and your advice/solutions proposed.

What PCI devices did you attach to your audio qube?
It seems that one of the PCI devices is causing the dom0 crash when you remove it from dom0.

Oh… so that’s what causes it.

Attaching a screenshot of the current device status of the qube in question

It also may happen if you try to run multiple qubes with the same PCI devices attached.

Not completely sure about that, I think nowadays it is fixed, but you can check it just in case.

Try to remove 64:00.1 device from the qube and start the qube without it. Maybe it’s a part of your GPU and removing it from dom0 is causing the crash.

So I tried this and now I see the following error in the screenshot

I’ve also shared the current PCI devices attached to the qube.

Removing 64:00.6 allows the qube to start.

Will try connecting it to Bluetooth and see if it works :crossed_fingers:

Thanks!

Update: I removed the offending PCI device and I was able to start the qube. I was able to connect the Bluetooth headphones I have and play sound through them.

The solution in my case was both this post and this post

However, everything in the qube is…slow. There’s a delay in typing, loading a YouTube video, getting feedback from a website etc. Something that isn’t happening in other qubes. Not sure why it is or what the cause could be. I’ve tried increasing the memory of the qube to 2000MB but the issue is persisting. I’ll try restarting it to see if that somehow fixes it.

Edit: restarting it fixes the issue so all good :raised_hands:

Try to increase the number of VCPUs assigned to this qube.
Check the CPU and memory usage in the qube using top command.
Make sure that no swap is used.

Restarting seems to have fixed it. If it comes back again, I’ll try this. Thank you!
