Is there a more up to date template for the sys-gui VM? fedora-36 is EOL
I never used f36. Just edited salt files to the current release at the time (f38) and everything worked fine.
I have succeeded, both with F38 and Win11 Standalone HVMs.
I can’t allocate more than 2112MB of RAM to them, but that doesn’t seem to affect their performance, at least for my use-case. Patching kernel both ways (via patch and xen.xml) doesn’t help, so will continue to research this separate issue.

Users in this community have had a difficult time with GPU passthrough over the years.
I want to share a quick recipe for how I got mine working.
Motherboard chipset: Intel z790
CPU: Intel Raptor Lake series
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4090 (24GB VRAM)
QubesOS version: 4.1.2 (R4.1)
I followed the guide by @neowutran .
However, like others , I couldn’t run the GPU VM with more than a few GB of memory.
The trick was to set the max-ram-below-4g variable to 2G instead of 3.5G.
I now have a VM with a 409…
How can I remediate my current sys-gui template if it uses f36? Just redo the salt state with f38?
I’d try to simply switch the template. If that doesn’t work, I’d create new one directly based on f39, not f38.
f39 is supported on R4.2?
Is there an f39-xfce template?

I found that updates often fail when you attempt them from dom0 cli. They also fail sometimes when using the update manager, but if you restart sdwdate a few times it seems to make the connection to the repo server.
