Sys-audio not working in archlinux standalonevm

hello, I followed this guide to set up a disposable audio qube.

I installed the archlinux community template and created a standalone qube

audio is correctly routed through sys-audio to qubes with templates other than archlinux, such as fedora, debian, kicksecure, whonix and appear in the “playback streams” menu

however, none of the qubes using the archlinux template (I’ve tested app and standalone) receive audio.

the template is unmodified, but has been updated and the following commands have been run to fix issues I was having with updates. I’m unsure if this would effect the sys-audio compatibility or not, but I’m including it just in case.

Hello, I saw your post on the Audio qube thread.

I run the arch template available in the Template Manager on a couple of appvm and I have no sound there either. It hasn’t been a problem for me, because I don’t use those appvm for anything to do with audio or video.

I think the template right now, doesn’t include some core qubes binaries that handle that integration with Qubes OS. The file/folder transfer to other qube functionality isn’t there either.

I suspect you can go through the process of installing those and get them to work, but it’s pretty manual.
It’d be a nice guide to document the process if you decide to give it a go.

I have sound on my archlinux VMs for many years.
If sound work for you for others template, can you check that/run the same commands in your archlinux template ?
