Port to Sequoia-PGP (gpg replacement) (OpenPGP) work in progress for Kicksecure, Whonix.
gpg-from-sq to make applications at least use sequoia-chameleon-gnupg .
So nowadays I suggest to Sequoia-PGP (sq) and not gpg.
Qubes is also porting to Sequoia-PGP. Example use case of sq here:

This is a temporary solution to ease updating keys. Proper solution should take … keys from qubes-builderv2 directly, but at this stage its path isn't known yet (and it isn't clear which instance to use either).

Sequoia is far safer than GnuPG, and prints the fingerprint directly
rather tha… n requiring that it be extracted from the status output.

Unspecific to Qubes.
These are graphical frontends that use gpg or gpg library as a backend. I don’t recommend using any graphical frontends. Unfortunately, it seems much better using the command line. I don’t know yet if any graphical frontends are compatible with sequoia-chameleon-gnupg or made for sq.
