Installing Microsoft Windows 10 in Qubes OS 4.1.0

Hi,
at the moment I am exploring the new Qubes OS 4.1.0 and I am really excited about all the technical improvements of the software!
However I want to install now Microsoft Windows 10 in a standalone VM. Like I have already done successfully in Qubes OS 4.0.4. But I am now confused which How-To in the documentation I should follow for Qubes OS 4.1.0? I tried the old How-To which was working well for me on 4.0.4, link: https://github.com/Qubes-Community/Contents/blob/master/docs/os/windows/windows-vm.md . However it was not working. And with the new How-To I am confused with which commands I should start to type into the terminal, link: https://github.com/elliotkillick/qvm-create-windows-qube . I watched the video on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCi2MOUwS_Q . However I didn`t find it very helpful, since it was without sound.
And I have the question if it is possible to import my Microsoft Windows 10 VM from Qubes OS 4.0.4 into Qubes OS 4.1.0?
Please help me.
Thank you.

Stay healthy & safe.

Have a look at this topic:

Hi everyone,
since an inplace Upgrade of Qubes 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 in my case fails because of the Windows10 VM, I decided to do a clean Installation of 4.1.1 on an additional SSD, leaving the 4.0.4 Installation untouched. I did a complete backup of 4.0.4 and tried to restore the Windows10 VM in 4.1.1, which to my surprise worked quite well. To get Windows10 starting one has to first increase the initial memory to at least 6000 MB within the standalone VM. I also restored some other VMs which I used in 4.0.4. My Initial Windows10 Integration followed the instruction that “elliotkillick” provided on https://github.com/elliotkillick/qvm-create-windows-qube. (Highly appreciated-thanks for that). After a few days and some hours of work the 4.1.1 installation is on the same level as the now obsolete 4.0.4. and I am quite satisfied with the outcome.

PS: Finally I installed the “Qubes Windows Tools” as described here: https://github.com/Qubes-Community/Contents/blob/master/docs/os/windows/windows-tools41.md (referring to Qubes 4.1)
So, among other features (see link), Audio and USB are finally supported.

PPS: If you restore the Window VM onto different hardware (ssd) you will certainly run into license issues. With MS Office you have to select “Activation by telephone” and after boring inputs of countless digits you are rewarded by a renewed activation.

Best Regards Klaus
