I'm trying to create a template or standalone in another storage location, but:

I get the following error:

qrexec-daemon startup failed: 2024-05-31 19:35:50.215 qrexec-daemon[10354]:
qrexec-daemon.c:144:sigchld_parent_handler: Connection to the VM failed

I’ve already tried to install it several times, it only works on my main storage disk.

How did you setup your secondary storage?
How are you trying to create template/standalone there?
Can you create app qube in your secondary storage?

did you look at this documentation?

Yes, I can create an AppVM, but not a template or standalone.

Yes, I did just that

When I try to create a template or a standalone, I put my vpn in the NetVM, debian-xfce template, and qubes2storage in the storage pool

What’s your secondary storage disk sector size?
Check it in dom0 terminal with sudo fdisk -l command.

When I put the command on, a lot of things come out

Sector size: 512 bytes / 4096 bytes

That’s is of my secondary storage

Are you getting these errors:

When you try to create the template/standalone or when you try to start the created template/standalone?
Are you creating the standalone/template using GUI tool “Create New Qube” or “Create Qubes VM” or using the terminal command e.g.:

qvm-create -P poolhd0_qubes --standalone --label red unstrusted-hdd

You’re right, I was wrong, that’s when I try to start a template/standalone

I create the template/standalone from the GUI, and when I start it I get that error.

Are you trying to creating template or app qube? If template then you shouldn’t set NetVM for it.
Try to clone the template (e.g. debian-12-xfce) to the second storage pool and start this template.
You can clone it in template Settings or using qvm-clone command.

Check the logs in dom0 of Xen and the standalone/template that is failing to start.

The cube app lets me start, but when I try to start a template or standalone, I get that error. I want now is to start a standalone

Try to clone the template and start it for a test first.
