Up until recently Qubes has only prompted me when there are updates with running VMs.
Recently it has also started prompting me to update non running VMs, I think a new feature?
This can be a nice idea to remind people to update but is there a way to disable the option?
It is very frustrating to have to uncheck VMs I don’t want to ever update and are set as disabled in the global config updates section.
Have you checked the options in “Qubes OS Global Config”?
yes, two templates are added to don’t update in global config. this has worked for as long as I can remember but in the last maybe 2 weeks these “dont update” templates are autochecked for updating even though they are never run.
I’m not sure how it works but an AppVM can check for updates for its template. Maybe add the related AppVMs too?
They are not assigned to any appvms.
Best I can tell it’s due to the forced checking if not updated in x day in the updater.
