I have legacy software that requires a no longer supported version of Debian. Since I don’t want to check for updates for this particular standalone qube, I disabled update checking with qvm-features. However, the Qubes update manager still selects this (OBSOLETE) qube by default. Is it possible to default this qube to be unselected in the update manager?

The feature you require exists in Qubes OS r4.3 but is not back-ported to r4.2. If you need this in r4.2, you could reply to this GIthub issue and ask for it:

Has anyone got this to work? I have templates showing up that I think should be ignored.
My setup
- Global Settings > Updates
- Enable check for updates on all existing qubes is enabled
- Except for the following qubes for which checking for updates is disable, where I list the templates I want to skip.
In qubes updater I have setting hide qubes with skip-update enabled.
But the templates I want skipped still show.
I have also tried disabling the update checker by going into the settings of the template and adding qubes-update-check in services and unchecking it.
