how do i use secure crypto wallets on qubes? can i just use something like EXodus with no security effects? srry am newb
hey there. It depends on your security model, how often you interact with defi etc.
you can do
- Hot wallet - pks saved on airgapped VM
- Cold wallet - hardware wallet via metamask on disposable template
- Multi-sig - combination of hardware wallet and hot wallet via metamask on disposable template.
I have spent the last few years perfecting my setup. Feel free to DM
hello. it would prob be something simple, as im not good with tech. preferably hot wallet i can easily send money from and recieve. but still secure. can you please elaborte on how to? also would the security be so bad its not worth it? thx <3
The secure way would be to sign the transactions in the offline qube and broadcast the signed transactions in the separate online qube.
But this should be supported by the wallet, you can see this as an example for Monero:
Following the second guide, it claims I need to enter the following command, and the said command starts with a “$” sign. When I type the sign into the terminal it says “command not found: $”
usually $ is the prompt, you dont enter that part
I got this far. "Create monerod config file
Create a new file in /home/user/.config/monerod/monerod.conf and insert the following in it:" I can not find that file. The only file I can find regarding this is “/home/user/monero-x86_64-linux-gnu-v0.18.3.4/” .
generally speaking, the more secure something is, the more complicated it is…
Apparatus’ monero guide is great but not ideal for day-to-day users imo.
What you can do i create a template for attaching a hardware wallet. Then creating disposable VMs off that template so each instance is a fresh and unaltered version of the template
Instead of a hardware wallet you can use a phone app. AirGap is a nice one. You can sign transactions securely using QR codes
