So if I open the “Qubes Global Config” and then click on “Updates” without changing anything in “Updates” or even putting my mouse cursor in the field on the right side where the actual configuration change happens, for example if I clicked by accident on “Updates”, then I click on something else like “Split GPG” for example right beneath it, then a small window with the name “[Dom0] Unsaved changes” pops up. In there is written “The following unsaved changes were found: - Update proxy settings” and then beneath it “Do you want to save changes?”.
But I didn’t change anything, I didn’t even put my mouse cursor in the field right to it where you do the actual configuration.
That happens every time. And this is going on for a long time already. I was just too lazy to report the bug and since I’m not that often in the “Qubes Global Config”, it didn’t annoy me that much to overcome my laziness and to report this bug.
Since Microslop took over Github, you get shadow banned if you are using the Tor network like with the Tor Browser, meaning that you and you only can read your messages, but nobody else. So it would do nothing to put it on Github, because nobody besides me could read it.
And I remember reading something about Github, that they made it even worse. Can I even register an account using the Tor Browser now? I mean it wouldn’t do any good anyway, because like I said, you get shadow banned from the start and nobody can read your messages, but I’m just curious, because sometimes I read here and there something like “Microslop made Github even worse”…so who knows.
But again, since you get shadow banned from the start if you are using the Tor Browser, this forum is the only way for me to report a bug. It is how it is.
Do you have a source for that? Not challenging it per se, and not putting it beyond Microsoft. But I have a Github account I created over Tor, with an anonymous onionmail.info email address created and accessed only ever over Tor, and I can file issues and post comments to the Qubes issue tracker that others can read and respond to.
So according to the information I have, what you say resembles FUD, which is no good as it discourages contribution to Qubes. What you say might in fact be true for new accounts in 2026, but I’d like to see it verified.
I tried it multiple times in the past at different times and I was always shadow banned from the start. I think you could use it with Tor if you have it verified with a phone number or something else very personal, I don’t remember. But that defeats the whole purpose of using Tor Browser, so that’s not a possibility for me.
Also I’m not following the situation closely if it’s now different again or not, but which I doubt, because like I said, I tried it multiple times at different times in the past and was always shadow banned from the start. Even if it would somehow work today, Microslop probably did something good by accident and will find a reason to shadow ban Tor users again later. So Github for reporting bugs as a Tor user is dead for me. Browsing Github or downloading stuff from there is of course still possible with Tor.
Ok I suspect Github-account-over-Tor still works, no phone number required, like this:

Configure Thunderbird to use the account w/ the hidden service domain you chose
Create a new account on Github, with the blah@onionmail.info alias as your address (i.e. not the blah@alphanumericalphanumericalphanumeric.onion ‘true’ account)
Do not add a phone number
Check your mail on Thunderbird and verify the account
Done.
If this does indeed still work, perhaps it only works because onionmail.info is not a big enough email provider for Microsoft to have clocked it’s a frontend for torified email. Or perhaps they don’t care (yet). But I bet it still works.
The thing is, I spent a lot of time back then to make a very good and detailed Github post (nothing related to Qubes), only to find out many days later that it was all for nothing. And I did it that at least two times if not more, because it was some time apart from trying it again and I forgot, that Github shadow bans Tor users, so I again invested a lot of time to make a long and detailed Github post (nothing related to Qubes) and was reminded of it the hard way. Then the developers of the project were also kinda a-holes. They looked into it and acknowledged that Github has shadow banned me as a Tor user, but said: Either you report it on Github or you have bad luck.
So after all my history with Github as a Tor user, I say: Never again will I try as a Tor user to report bugs on Github.
So thanks for the suggestions, but I’m done with Github for reporting bugs.
Your choice.
I only use GitHub via Tor. Some accounts created with vanilla email,
others with onionmail addresses.
I dont use the GUI - I use email and gh exclusively.
No issues at all.
I never presume to speak for the Qubes team.
