I tried to install Windows in an HVM, but it fails to boot after I select “Boot qube from DISC or block device” → “from file in qube.”
After selecting the ISO file in the qube where I downloaded it and clicking OK, I start the qube and the following error appears:
Qube Status: Windows
Qube Windows has failed to start: Block device personal:loop1:* not available
What do I need to do to fix this issue?
I made a Windows 10 HVM and installed qubes windows tool. It starts and seem to sort of work. But after rebooting the computer, when I try qvm-start <windows 10 VM name>, I see an error like: block device dom0:loopX not available .
I can work around the error by runing qvm-start <Windows 10 qube name> --install-windows-tools for X times before qvm-start-gui --force-stubdomain .
For me, X is 27. I don’t know how to fix that. For now, I try to ignore the 27 notifications of error.
(Include solution for 4.2 and 4.3)

So I repeated the process, typed “qvm-block unassign Windows” in the dom0 terminal after the error occurred, then clicked “Boot qube from…”, selected the ISO, and it worked.
