Best Practices for using Windows VM

Hi,

I’m trying to use Windows 10 VM for handling some unsuported under linux devices and to be able to troubleshot windows problems for my family members. Unfortunately I don’t know what is the best configuration to use Windows VM’s. I’m trying using Windows 10 template with moved user folder but I encounter many problems, and also I have to enable internet connection to the template to be able to use windows update. So maybe better option will be using windows as standalone HVM since I’m not browsing internet from there beside downloading “trusted” drivers and tools from vendors websites.

Better use the combination template / AppVM, and attach the template only temporarily, for the updates, to the Internet, while keeping the AppVM with your data switched off this time. The AppVM probably needs to use the same IP address as the template, so both should never be up simultaneously.
