I have been watching for answers to your question about sound, but I see that none have come.
Have you found any solution? I do not use audio much, but it is on my list of things to set up correctly, so I am interested to know what problems there are.
If there is still a problem, it may be useful to tell what hardware you have, and how your audio is configured … For example, do you have an (AudioVM)[Audio qube], or is it in Dom0, what sources do you use, and so on.
My main discovery with audio in QubesOS is that there are multiple places to control the volume, and many sources of audio. If I have any volume setting too small or too large, then I get choppy, noisy sound. I have also found very quiet noise coming from very low volume from web-browsers. I try to mute everything I do not want to hear.
