Windows 7 Pro/32 Networking

I successfully added Windows 7 Qube. Internet access was established. Yay!

I now want to change the ip address, subnet mask and Default Route/Primary DNS so that it can connect to a separate machine which is another physical Win 7 machine acting as a server.

I still want all the other Qubes to use the original ip info when Qubes was installed.

The reason is that I still need Windows for some things but I want to keep Windows from having any connectiosns to the other qubes.

Is it possible and how do I do it? Thank you.

you can only change the DNS, the IP / subnet can’t be changed as the assigned IP is expected by the qube netvm and any other traffic will be discarded. You don’t need to change this to reach a remote machine though.

To change the Windows network configuration, you have to do it in two locations:

  • In the Windows control panel, you have to change the properties of the network interface that Windows sees.
  • In qvm-prefs of the Windows qube, you need to adjust the network properties accordingly.

Both changes will survive a reboot of the Windows Qube, if it is a standalone qube or a template. In the latter case, the changes will apply to any AppVM based on that template.
