Hello i am using VeraCrypt in a AppVM thats working Whonix Workstation as the template. When trying to create any VeraCrypt volume either normal or hidden when creating it after getting half way done its asking for whonix user password or admin password and there is no password so how to get past this?
I also tried the password “changeme” it didnt work
Any suggestions or fixes?
Try it in fedora or debian. Whonix has changed permissions setup and that might be causing it. If that fixes it you can try reverting whonix to the old permissions setup
Yes. Worked with debian-13-xfce template no problem. Is there a solution to get it working in the workstation template?

Instead of disabling user-sysmaint-split (either permanently or via unrestricted mode), a much better approach is to run VeraCrypt in an offline AppVM based on a Fedora or Debian template.
This solves the mounting issue while preserving the security benefits of user-sysmaint-split in your online Whonix VMs.
More importantly, if you’re storing sensitive data in encrypted containers, handling them in an offline VM is significantly safer.
