try to update your dom0 also, it also have few patches including input-proxy
I don’t know what failed for you but for whatever reason Tor Browser in whonix-workstation-18 template is still 15.0.19 and does not get to 16, even though the template is updated.
It’s 16.0 over here. I updated the template, restarted it and then started the downloader within the template. Everything as usual.
To me it just went to 16.0 like usual Tor browser updates, so that must be for some specific users only. Strange, especially if you also already tried update-torbrowser in whonix-workstation-18 terminal.
I also had a no-fuss update to v16.
The update method that has been most consistently successful for me is using the whonix-18-workstation terminal. However you launch it, it should be in the context of the sysmaint user.
Then issue update-torbrowser --resume The --resume flag is for if the update fails part way through the process and you need to start again; it tells the updater on subsequent tries to first look in /var/lib/tb-updater/resume-stash/tb for any partial downloads it can resume.
The stdout/stderr messages using the terminal are by default verbose enough to troubleshoot most issues, which is awesome. You could use the --debug flag, but fair warning, it’s really verbose. As per usual, look through the update-torbrowser --help to see if anything there fits your specific needs.
