Whonix qube tries too long to connect when the machine is off-line

I experienced a slow start-up of whonix qube at the second boot.

Technically, it was after restarting the machine after installation of Qubes OS and configuration of the Qubes OS and Qubes. At the second boot, WIFI was disconnected. I saw the whonix qube or the whonix template saying it was trying connection. It did not give up soon. It seemed to take 5 minutes before it gives up connection.

I considered it problematic since I often use computer off-line.

I worked around this by reinstalling Qubes OS and deselect whonix template.

Is there a way of solving this issue with keeping whonix template available?

I am planning to reinstall Qubes OS after I learn basic configurations.

(So far, I know how to set-up my bluetooth keyboard. I tested a Windows Qube. I need to test Yubikey. I am also interested in QWT. Reinstallation is at least one week ahead.)

Hi tofu

If you go into the Qube Manager, selects Whonix-gateway and remove the “Start qube automatically on boot”, then the Whonix-gateway shouldn’t start on boot.

Thank you ChrisA,

Next time, I keep whonix-template.

Hi tofu

You can remove or add the “Start qube automatically on boot” for other qubes – depending on which you need often or seldom need ..
