What's the best way of donating?

I’m drunk but I know what I wanna do. I’ve always wanted after trying this OS.
How can I donate you monthly without taxes ultra-reducing your income?

I don’t really care about the privacy of the monthly donations, in fact I wanna let the goverment and the bank know that I use this while their inferior minds keep using windows xd.
Fuck them, I HATE them.

Should I use BTC or something? Or normal donations are okay? I reside in Spain and I understand that your org is in Poland.
Lemme know so I can send 50/100 euros to this monthly while taxes of Perro Sanxe don’t consume much of it.

Thanks in advance.

btw, obviously not illegal tax evasion, just minimizing taxes so you can get most of the money and not government (political thieves)

Sir, you clearly are not drunk if you are worrying enough to clarify this

Because you are in EU, it may be very big advantage to use CCT, if you pay tax:

How can I donate via EU bank transfer?

If I am understanding correctly, this should give your donation the same status as a gift to a local charity for tax purposes.

For example, in France, this sounds like an “association loi 1901” - where a donation of €100 can give a tax credit of €66. At the end, a French person would lose €33 but Qubes would get €100. (There is some “small print”: up to a maximum limit of some amount, requires a correct “reçu fiscal”, ask your tax adviser, …!)

Can anyone in France, Spain or elsewhere confirm that they have used this with gift via CCT?

That’s not only the perfect prerequisite for recurring donations to Qubes, but it has already brought me many wild and beautiful evenings (and more) in my life. Keep it up!

I have had a look at the French fiscality, and it seems that there are a few obstacles before the CCT could give the necessary “Reçu Fiscal”, so don’t take my words about the French taxes as the truth. Maybe they have it all arranged but best to verify - I plan to make some enquiries when I have worked out what questions to ask.

Could be a good idea to ask CCT directly. They explicitly offer support regarding this topic:

The Center for the Cultivation of Technology is a German charity, which means that donations to us or our projects are tax-deductible across Europe.

For Germany, you can download a general donation receipt(…) that together with your bank statement is sufficient to claim taxes on donations up to 300€.

For other European countries and larger donations, we’re happy to provide individual donation receipts and work with you on their recognition. For that, please send us your full name and postal address and the date of your transaction to donate@techcultivation.org.

Thanks to all of you!
Seeing your responses, I think I’m going to donate via CCT.
I’ll tell you later on about how it went

I’m not so sure. I wrote them an email a week ago asking if it is possible to direct my money directly to Qubes OS project and I didn’t get any answer so far.

I think for this, when making the payment by bank transfer, it is only necessary to follow the instruction to:

write the correct **purpose of transfer**

Some of the contribution is kept by CCT, I guess, to cover their charges, but the remainder goes to Qubes.

I have also enquired to the general contact email, about donations from France. I also did not hear yet.

I am guessing that their budget is not so big, and staff is small or maybe even zero, with only volunteers. Also, it is early in the year, when many people are wanting documents for tax claims. So maybe it is busy in the CCT office.

For me, the tax deadline is end of December, so I am happy to wait for a while…

Send them actual products they need or pay for services they use.

yes their staff is small (2 people, i think not full-time), sometimes things get busy for them, so give them a bit more time to respond to your inquiry

yes CCT keeps 10% as fiscal host - still nicer than paying that to a credit card company.

Curious michael but are you not a part of the “staff”? No judgement from me, hell who doesn’t love a thread that starts with

Wish I knew more about CCT and wise

@michael do you know if cash (paper money) would be acceptable? Sorry if I missed this somewhere. Links, breadcrumbs, etc. would be most appreciated.

@tnt thx for this post! :grinning:

nope, i’m not part of the CCT staff.

assuming you mean euros? it wouldn’t be tax-deductible (vs bank transfer) & you would need to go thru the hassle of physically sending it - you can ask CCT, maybe they have previous experience. if it’s significant you can reach out directly to the Qubes OS team, i guess the business email address, & we can consider it.

Why is this topic in All around Qubes? It’s explicitly about Qubes. I moved it to User Support (because it allows to choose a “solution” reply).

I took the conservative @irvinewade approach and assumed the OP chose the All around Qubes category for privacy reasons similar to the Round Table category.
