What is the safest way to communicate with VPN?

Hello everyone, what is the safest way to communicate with VPN? What is the difference between creating an APPVM based on a WHONIX template and performing VPN communication using apps, and using open VPN communication using VPNConnections in WiFi Networks on the home screen? Also, which is safer? Incidentally, the Qube I always use is whonixQube. Currently, I am using VPN communication through WiFi Networks on the home screen. However, I want to use it under whonix communication, so I’m wondering whether I should do all the operations using Qube via whonix. However, I’ve only tried using vpnapp from appQube on Fedora, so I don’t know if I can do the same with whonix. Please let me know if the current method is impairing whonix’s characteristics or if there are any problems with dom0.

Sorry, everyone. The second half of this previous post was written unrelated to this question. It’s a simple mistake. We have newly created a simple and easy to understand question, so please answer the questions if you like. If necessary, I will ask you a new question again. What is the safest way to communicate with a VPN? I’m considering two types:

  1. Create an APPVM based on a Whonix template and then use the FreeVPN app to perform VPN communications from there
  2. . Use VPNConnections on the WIFI network on the home screen and use open VPN communication

What is the difference between these? Also, which is safer? Incidentally, the Qube I use all the time is Whonixqube. Currently, we are using openVPN communication. However, it seems that the VPN communication is directly performed to dom0, the underlying source, rather than to whonixTemplete. Does using OpenVpn from the home screen undermine Whonix’s inherent anonymity? Also, is this method lessening the anonymity related to Dom0 or other things?
