I was trying to install Qubes 4.3.0 and noticed some options listed under “Additional Software for Selected Environment” in Software Selection. The options and their descriptions are:
- Qubes UI (Audio/Gui)
- Qubes UI daemons
- Desktop accessibility
- This group contains essential accessibility stack to be used with desktop environments.
- Sway Window Manager (supplemental packages)
- Sway is a tiling window manager supporting Wayland compositor protocol and i3-compatible configuration. This group includes additional set of packages for Fedora Sway spin.
The Qubes UI option is selected by default.
I would just like to know what exactly these options are and why I would or would not select any of them. Maybe I overlooked something, but I didn’t see any mention of them in the installation guide and haven’t been able to find mention of them elsewhere yet.
If I had to hazard a guess, I’d assume the Qubes UI option is necessary for sys-audio and sys-gui? I also saw that Wayland work has begun, but I haven’t seen anything mentioning sway being an option, so I’m not too certain what that option is for. And I’m not sure what the Desktop accessibility offers.
