VLC doesn't go fullscreen

I’m using debian and when I try to double click on VLC it says it’s fullscreen(the navigation is changing, no top bar etc), but the app itself doesn’t scale to the fullscreen and the frame of vlc doesn’t go away.
I have mpv and other apps on the same qube and they working fine with fullscreen.

Did you enable fullscreen mode? See How to enter fullscreen mode — Qubes OS Documentation

Other programs may handle fullscreen differently by maximizing their main window, not really going fullscreen per definition of the display server protocol which is blocked by default on Qubes OS.

Yes, of course I enabled the fullscreen in the qube’s settings. Fullscreen is fullscreen

Do you have the same result using any of the methods on top of @solene’s link?

Yes. The app thinks its in fullscreen, because the layout is changing and I can right click and select to exit “fullscreen”, but it’s not true fullscreen as I described, so I don’t get it really, because other apps work fine and do enter fullscreen normally.
When I was asking this I thought it’s kinda known bug or something

I can’t reproduce this bug.

Is it somehow related to my hardware then? I really don’t think so. I use primarily debian 12 minimal, but I tried on debian 13 xfce, fedora 42 xfce and it’s the same. Now it’s even more weird than it was

I have the same problem. Debian 12.

This enables the fullscreen video.

In addition to that you can enable fullscreen mode for the window as described here with e.g. ALT+F11.

Both fullscreen video and fullscreen window combined should enable the expected fullscreen mode for VLC.

It doesn’t do anything to VLC in my case, so

Doesn’t work!

Well, at least it’s not only me in here. I was starting to feel really “special”

I experienced the same issue when I first started. Have you tried pressing F11?
