Verifying a backup

I am following the instructions as per:

They are pretty clear, even for an ignorant like me.

  1. I created a backup
  2. I switched my laptop off, then on
  3. I started the restore utility
  4. I ticked the “just verification, no restore” option (not sure about the exact text, but should be clear enough)
  5. I got to the “Qubes to restore” screen

Now there is one point that puts me in doubt.

Is my backup OK?
Has it been checked out already?
Or should I select all qubes for restore, and click “Next”, and only then will then utility check each qube backup and let me know if everything is fine?

Thanks in advance for any hint.

You have to go through it like you are restoring, which means you will have to check the qubes you want to verify and click next. The only difference between the two options UX-wise is that when you are verifying only, the qubes are verified and not restored.

This may be a good place to start a UX ticket in the issue tracker because of the ambiguity.

You do not have to reboot your system to verify the backup.

You need to select the qubes you want to verify in the backups if I remember correctly. This is a bit weird indeed.

It would indeed be nicer if if would say “Qubes to verify”.
Thank you very much to both of you for your kind and prompt answers.
