Using 'usb.keyboard' with mouse/ keyboard behind USB hub

Before I talk about, what I am trying to do, I forestall the expected community roast by acknowleding:

  • I know, that USB input devices are more dangerous than PS/2 devices.
  • I know that I have to trust an USB hub, when I attach USB input devices to it.

With that being said, let’s get into it:

Has anyone of the daring users amongst us tried to attach a mouse/ keyboard, that sits behind a USB hub to ‘sys-usb’ using the ‘usb.keyboard’ salt formula?
I was trying to achieve that without success.

Before I start examining the issue more closely: Is that even something that is expected to work?
If not: Anyone familiar with workarounds?

Thanks a lot!

Yes, should work - without knowing what hub you are using, and how it passes through usb
devices it’s difficult to say more.
A stupid hub will simply pass through usb devices - lsusb in sys-usb
should show the keyboard.
