Hi,
I would like to update my QubesOS installation from 4.0 to 4.1. Is it possible to use fepitre’s qubes-dist-upgrade tool? Does someone has any previous experience with it?
Cheers

Not officially. Qubes 4.1 has not been released yet, and we have not made an announcement about whether in-place upgrades from 4.0 to 4.1 will be supported.
As Andrew said, we have not release 4.1 and there is still a big part missing for the tool: upgrading templates from R4.0 to R4.1 repositories. This is not trivial and currently we have encountered several corner cases that we need to manage.
Thanks fepitre,
this is the answer I was looking for.
Cheers
This information was helpful, so thank you.
But, can I ask, what are the ways to install 4.1? I have a running 4.0.4rc instance. If i’m interpreting this thread correctly, it is not possible to do an upgrade of the existing system?
The only way I can run 4.1 is to manually build it from src files, and do a clean install on a machine?
Am I correct in these points above? Thanks in advance.
You can also install from this ISO of the 4.1 alpha:
