If I want to upgrade in-place, should I first switch dom0 repos to testing to get the new dist-upgrade tool? What about template repos?

To answer my own question, as this was not explained in the document @alimirjamali linked, yes, you need to enable dom0 testing repos. Otherwise I could not install the dist-upgrade tool.
