What’s your default update qube that you use to update the templates?
Check the output of this command in the default update qube:

sudo systemctl status qubes-updates-proxy.service | cat

my default templates for qubes is debian . yes i was able to update my whonix and whonix gateway. how do i check what is my update qube?

Are you able to update your debian templates (not Whonix one)?

Q → Gear icon → Qubes Tools → Qubes Global Config → Updates → Default update proxy

yes i was able to update my debian templates.

my default update proxy is sys-whonix

What’s the output of these commands in fedora-40-xfce template?

sudo systemctl status qubes-updates-proxy-forwarder.socket qubes-updates-proxy.service | cat
ss -tulnp | grep 8082

My experience on this is just to be patient for a while. Fedora repos are known for their instability in terms of accessibility. I had this myself several times last week.

Did it work before at this point?

What changed after this? Did you update the debian template or dom0?

What error do you have for debian templates?

Are you able to browse the websites using Tor Browser in the Whonix Workstation qubes connected to sys-whonix?

yes i was able to update my debian templates before

then i did a dom0 template up

yes i am able to browse using the tor broweser in my connected sys-whonix qubes. i also did an successful update of whonix qubes with the release i was prompted to update.

Can you post the error message that you get when you try to update a debian template?

Do you upgrade your Whonix templates using Qubes Update tool or by manually running the update commands in the template terminal?

Maybe you have the same issue as here:

I updated it through qubes update tool

Did you make any changes in the whonix-gateway-17 template or in the sys-whonix qube?

Maybe try to reinstall the whonix-gateway-17 template.

Also, did you enable IPv6 in your qubes?
