I got knowing that Qubes OS is hard to work with wifi, mainly with wifi Realtek, now I have a wifi usb Atheros adapter. I tried then attach to sys-net, because there is none sys-usb. I saw only one usb device in the settings. After trying to attach, the whole system gone down and I had to reinstall all system. I used the console of dom0 with instructions from ai, but the less it worked the more she spined.
What exact steps did you take to attach the card to sys-net? And what errors did you see? Breaking the whole system sounds like a big issue, so either there was a configuration error, or, if it’s reproducible, it’s something that should be reported with more details to the ITL team.
I did open settings of sys-net in the qubes manager, there I found just one device usb, then I did attach its to sys-net. I think I deattached other devices from sys-net, namely wifi Realtek and Ethernet Intel. Wifi Realtek doesn’t work with Qubes OS, Ethernet Intel does work with sys-net when Realtek is deattached. Internet search shows Qubes OS is tricky to work with wifi, however wifi Atheros has more compatibility.
But the adapter seems invisible, when I did attach the one device usb, it has a name much generic as Intel controller etc. In other system Linux appears as Atheros. After these passes, at reboot of sys-net, happened a error, which I didn’t have much way to survey because by this the whole system got unusable, even after rebooting.
I reminded better what happened. I find I transferred the usb control to the sys-net, but my tablet and mouse are usb, when sys-net rebooted I lost any interaction with the system, all was freezed. Now I understand. In that case all I could it’s just reinstall the system.
The trouble is that my setup is no suitable. My mouse is usb, the tablet and too the SSD where the system and partition of boot are. The setup no fits with security policies of Qubes OS. The decision more rational is install a Intel AX200 pci wifi.
