I generally understand the two types of templates, FULL and XFCE. When opening the Apps menu in the FULL Debian and Fedora templates there is a “Software” (Flatpack??)app available. When opening the same in the XFCE templates there is no Software option available. Does not appear in the Available selection list.
Would someone please explain why it is this way? Could the software option be added to the XFCE Available list? Is that not a good idea? Is just using dnf or apt install in a terminal better? Why.
My simple brain would appreciate the additional Qubes knowledge
Thanks.
what you call “FULL”. It’s probably the “gnome” version of the template. “Software” is the gnome application manager, that’s why it’s not present in the xfce templates. The equivalent of “software” in xfce is “synaptic”
Able to find Synaptic in the Debian-13 XFCE. Installed and found the aps needed.
No Synaptic available for the Fedora-42 XFCE. Possible a different name?
No, Xfce is also a full template. There are two types of full templates: Xfce and GNOME. The default template is now Xfce. It used to be GNOME. An alternative to the full templates are the minimal templates.
