Hello everyone,
Not sure why, but on latest Qubes stable and Qubes RC, I’m having a problem during setup. After setting up template VMs, networking configuration process starts. System hangs and disconnects all my peripherals like mouse and keyboard, forced restart is needed.
To boot, I have to disable onboard LAN controller (Realtek RTL8125).
Not sure where to find logs from this event, but if you need anything, please ask, since I’m noob on Linux, learning a lot these days.
Setup:
AMD Ryzen 7950X
MSI MAG Tomahawk X670E
Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti Super
64GB of DDR5 RAM
This seems to be caused by one of the PCI devices attached to sys-usb or sys-net.
Boot into Qubes OS with disabled qubes autostart like this:
Then try to start sys-net and sys-usb manually. If you’ll have the same problem then try to remove the PCI devices attached to qubes one by one in the qubes Settings → Devices tab and try to boot again until you find the device that is causing this issue.
You’re right - I have reinstalled Qubes on my setup and after disabling auto_start, I was able to boot. After this, I found out that problem isn’t sys-net at all, but sys-usb. It looks like system is crashing after trying to add AMD USB Controller devices. Unfortunately, I’m unable to get any logs currently
