Sys-whonix works for 2-3 mins then gives me no internet

help please. I am having major problems where my Qubes is having very limited to short connectivity through who is. Whenever I start my Qubes that’s is networked through sys-whonix the internet works ok for like 2-3 mins then gives me no internet and I have to restart tor through the tor control panel and it works again for 2-3 mins and the same issue. I am having the same issue also with tor browser(anondist). My personal cube that runs through says-firewall works ok without any issues. All my Qubes and such have been updated and I have installed all updates.

Please if anyone can assist me in addressing this problem I will be most grateful even rewarding the crypto. Please I use Qubes for work

Are you using bridges?
Maybe try to use different bridge.
This should be a generic Tor issue and not specific to Qubes OS.

No I am not using bridges and I tried using bridges also and it did not fix the issue. Can you please help

Download Tor Browser, run it in personal qube connected to sys-firewall and check if you’ll have the same issue with it.
This will be able to tell if it’s an issue with Whonix or you have an issue with Tor, maybe your ISP is blocking your Tor connections after some time.

Sys-whonix works for 2-3 mins then gives me no internet

You can also try to completely reinstall Whonix:

In addition, you may want to also ask at the Whonix forums.

I have tried both options and it’s the same issue

So you’ve tried this:

And Tor Browser in personal qube had the same issue?
If yes then try to connect to VPN before connecting to Tor.

Getting 2-3 minutes of a connection before it just goes to nothing is probably an MTU problem.

Is it possible that you are connecting to a wireguard connection with a 1420 MTU and have whonix set to 1500 and that’s causing the problem?

If you are connecting through a MiFi with a lower MTU in the 1300s and then try to run a wireguard into that of 1420 MTU and then put a 1500 MTU sys-whonix connection on top of that you may be trying to smash to much into a tunnel too small.

go into sys-whonix

then write

sudo ip link set mtu 1420 dev eth0
sudo ip link set mtu 1420 dev eth1

this may result in you standing out compared with other Tor users with higher MTUs but if the problem is MTU related this will get it to work

This is a VPN and you can create a free limited account to test if this is the solution.

You can also email the Tor Project to ask for a bridge or use a default bridge.

Are you in a country that is likely to censor Tor?

Did it ever get working?

After reinstalling qubes os for 3 times over and over and ended up with the same problem. I reinstalled a final time and use Debian as my default templates for all and magically everything is working fine now . I really still do not know what had cause the issue as I followed all guides and nothing had worked

Did you check the hash of the iso?

Also, sometimes Qubes won’t burn correctly to USB and won’t install correctly from the USB, but will boot and just have problems.

So this is not something that’s never happened before. Glad it works!
