Sys-net based on debian-13 broken since last update

Hello Qubes community,

I was using debian-13 as a template for my sys-net and it was working without an issue. After the last updates, sys-net vif interface stays down. If I change the template back to a fedora, it works great, but I would like to understand what created that issue and how to fix it. I run 4.2 but the problem is the same on my testing laptop on 4.3.

Thanks for helping!

Hi, first you could revert the changes done in your Debian template, using Qubes os volumes revert features

Hi @Bishop

You don’t say whether this was an update in your debian-13 - still
strictly a testing release which is expected to break - or dom0
update, or combo.
Many people have reported problem with the latest dom0 update, with
symptoms like yours.
As far as troubleshooting, you could try:

  1. booting with an earlier kernel and see if the 13 sys-net works.
  2. booting with an earlier kernel, and roll back the changes in 13
  3. Roll back changes in 13 with current kernel

This should help to narrow down on your issue.

I never presume to speak for the Qubes team.

Thanks for the suggestion

The Roll back changes work with the current kernel.

So probably an update in the template after March 15 created the issue.

Thanks

Thanks for that

I have no idea if its related but my sys-net stopped working as well just recently, except i am using deb-12?
