However when I followed the steps in the ‘Welcome Center’ concerning ‘Access the Internet’ I received the information that ‘plasma-nm’ needs to be installed - and - that I’m supposed to report this as a bug to the Qubes Team.
Do you need any other information for me ?
PS: Switching back to XFCE ( and accessing the Internet again worked w/o any issues !
Dont do this - just use sys-net as you do normally. If you have already
set up a network connection then it will Just Work™
BUT the network manager applet is in the status bar with a blank icon -
you can hover over it and control NM as usual.
I never presume to speak for the Qubes team.
When I comment in the Forum I speak for myself.
The KDE tools dont understand about the role that dom0/GuiVM has in
Qubes, so the advice can be misleading. (Actually the same goes for most
DE)
The network manager applet isnt obvious on the task bar. Long running
bug in KDE.
There’s a lengthy thread about KDE - I’d suggest taking it slow, but set
up a few Activities and allocate qubes to them; Add some shortcuts to
load windows and switch between activities; Customise the KDE menu.
I’m convinced that KDE is a fine match for Qubes and makes Qubes use
easier, simpler, and more productive.
