Switch from Fedora 38 to Fedora 40 Broke GNOME Dark Mode

I like to have dark mode enabled in my GNOME applications. What I usually do is pull down fedora-XX-minimal and install only the GNOME applications I need to keep things bloat-free (bloat-free and GNOME, I know…).

The great thing about GNOME applications is that they listen to the gsettings config. This worked in Fedora 38, but seems to be broken in Fedora 40. I don’t want to pull down all the GNOME packages by installing the GNOME settings application, which should make it work again. Can anyone help me configure it correctly? The old way was this:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme 'prefer-dark

Short question: which template do you use? A fedora-40-xfce or a fedora-40. If you use the latter, it still should work that way you mentioned.

I am using fedora-40-minimal. It works in the blaoted Fedora VMs. I’m pretty sure I’m just missing a gnome package, but I don’t know which one.

Okay, thats for sure. But can’t say which one this is. Maybe someone else here.
