Please fix the internet issues for Tails HVM in Qubes 4.3. This problem still exists [qubes-users] Tails VM: network broken since Qubes r4.2 (was online in r4.1)
Tails can work with webtunnel – it is important for users in many countries
Could you describe exactly your problem? The issue you linked is still not really clear.
Impossible to connect to the internet. The link contains a detailed analysis of the problem. I’m just indicating that it is still relevant. This issue does not occur with other HVMs
yes. I tried installing tails 3 months ago. I changed mask, altered connections: sys‑firewall, sys‑vpn, sys‑net, and tried different gateways, but I still couldn’t get internet access. I installed fedora and windows hvms, those worked perfectly.
@solene
try it in 4.2 and 4.3 and write a guide
I think we won’t see a webtunnel in whonix for the next few years. whonix team isn’t interested in dealing with problems in censored countries, but tails does everything for it. their bridges run the latest versions (whonix still uses outdated snowflake). tails is the last hope for chinese users who want to use a webtunnel in qubes
I spent 1h30 debugging this. Actually, when you start Tails, just disable the random MAC.
The antispoof MAC feature in the netvm prevents a qube to use another MAC than the one assigned, traffic gets discarded.
Wow thank you! I will try it
I couldn’t connect to the Internet. I tried all MAC‑address options. In Tails I tried disabling and re‑enabling automatic DNS, but there’s still no Internet connection.
In Tails welcome menu, did you disable MAC randomization?
No Thank you!
thank you, dear Solene. you are amazing
Hello guys, do you think that I can clone Tails from already installed Tails on USB stick or I have to proceed with fresh install on HVM?
I tried to have the img/iso file written on a HVM root disk, but there is a bug preventing it to boot fine, otherwise it would have been really great
So far, you could use a command line in dom0 to boot the HVM from the ISO file and make it a shortcut in dom0.
Okay solene, thank you so much!
