Should IOMMU/VT-d/AMD-Vi require RAID?

Former Windows user, Qubes OS newbie here
Please excuse my (mis)use of technical terms; while very interesting, this is all very new for me

When attempting to install Qubes OS, I am shown an error message stating that my hardware lacks IOMMU/VT-d/AMD-Vi

I frown, and check the HCL. I cannot find my motherboard, so I wonder if I’ll need a new motherboard to get Qubes OS
Some Internet searching indicates that my motherboard can support IOMMU/VT-d/AMD-Vi. Yay

However, the methods for getting IOMMU/VT-d enabled on my motherboard state that I’ll need to change my SATA mode from AHCI to RAID, and then do some other steps

Does Qubes OS/Xen usually require RAID rather than AHCI?

No, raid is a completely separate technology.

This is most likely specific to the quirks of your hardware

Also I never heard of anything that supports IOMMU, but doesn’t let you just enable it in the bios. Sounds weird.

IOMMU/VT-d and RAID/AHCI are two complete separated topics. QubesOS does not require RAID, but requires IOMMU/VT-d (at least the current versions).
Would you tell us, which Motherboard and CPU do you have?

Two responses in 25 minutes; that was a lot faster than I was expecting! Thank you both

Motherboard: MSI MEG Z390
CPU: Intel Core i9 9900K

Motherboard and CPU supports VT-d and IOMMU.

And VT-d +IOMMU support can be switched on (completely independend from SATA/RAID mode).

(sorry, video is in german, but has screens of all relevant settings).
In the video, it is explained starting from 0:40
If you like, you can turn on subtitles, these are in (automatic translated) english.

Not to “well, actually” you, but it was in (quite accented) English for me

Settings found and enabled
Note for anyone who finds this later: I didn’t need to go to Expert mode; I could scroll down and find CPU Features in Normal mode

Thank you murdock
