What should a new user change in their default qubes os to make it more secure. Also, I have a problem that it says that my tor is not up to date how do I update that? I updated the browser of course but it still says that.
Qubes Update whonix-ws-18
If that doesnt fix it, start whonix-ws-18 template and run the tor updater/downloader
It’s not the browser in the ws but tor in sys-whonix

I assume you have Qubes Update all the qubes, including dom0 ?

The issue will persist
I recommend not messing with whonix much, everytime i do it, it turns into a project. Also upgrading 17 to 18 is not trivial. You will need to update to qubes 4.3 at some point and that will get you 18
