When I launch any offline whonix qubes (vault for example) its sdwdate appears at the top right lock along with every other qube, and since I run my vault qube all day, I end up having the sdwdate lock show up as failed (having that X) which makes it more difficult to see which qubes have been synced, so I always have to click on it manually to see, is this normal? should I disable sdwdate for any offline qubes? The only solution I did was avoid using a whonix template for offline qubes, but I love the added security so I want to fix this.
I think yes, this is normal. Because sdwdate has to make internet connections to set its clock stuff right. And if you make a whonix qube offline, it cannot do that and its sdwdate clock fails, naturally.
I have the exact same situation. I use a few whonix qubes of mine offlien, and their sdwdate cannot succeed. So, I get a Cross-symbol on the Time Synchronization Monitor on the system tray.
I learned to ignore it. If I get overly curious or annoyed, I click on its tray widget once and check if my online whonix qubes have failed or not.
