Does this work in Qubes? When I try to screen share using the Zoom desktop client (version 6.2.11 x86_64 on Fedora 40 running x11), I don’t see any options to select individual apps - it only lets me share my full desktop. If anyone could share configurations that have worked for them I’d be really grateful. Thanks in advance.
It’s unrelated to Qubes OS, Zoom will work the same as on any other Linux desktop.
Maybe try to use the web based version in chromium / chrome, it should allow to share a tab, and maybe a single window.
It is definitely an issue with QubesOS. The same issue exists if you try to do a screen capture with OBS or similar software. Normally you have a large variety of capture options, but none of these worked for me (for screen recording) except for one type which captures the entire screen within a VM at a time.
I have considered remedies and the best option seems to be running a sway DE inside the VM but I haven’t done so…
I say it is an issue with QubesOS but maybe not Qubes specifically, maybe you can say it’s the way that X11 is run inside the VM…
In teams I can share a single window so it’s not a X11 limitations.
Thanks for your responses. @solene’s solution using the web based version was the only one that worked for me, the client did not.
I’m leaving this discussion here which seemed relevant, in case Wayland is ever supported on Qubes.
Thanks!
