As stated in the documentation → Salt (management software) | Qubes OS

there are some Saltstack states already configured. Which states have come pre-configured? Could they

potentially have an effect on system security by having, for example, pre-configured telemetry?

This depends on what options you selected at install.
Look at the relevant files in /srv/formulas/base/virtual-machines-forumla

Potentially there could be telemetry - you may judge for yourself.
There could equally be telemetry configured in templates. In Debian
there isn’t.

Using an IDS? Possibly
You would likely need to do some in depth traffic analysis, and it isn’t
going to be straight forward.

Are there any documentation or articles on pfSense being setup as a net-vm in order to run an IDS? I know
there is an article on setting up Mirage Qubes firewall.
