How safe / dangerous is it to open a TCP port according to Opening a single TCP port to other network-isolated qube? I understand that this is less dangerous than enabling networking between qubes. What are the chances of compromise, what if access to root is restricted in both or either of qubes? I’m trying to understand security risks before I do this.
It’s similar to the safety of opening a port in any kind of firewall. If the service listening on that port in the server qube is vulnerable to some sort of attack, a client qube could at least DoS the server qube or, in certain cases, achieve arbitrary code execution if the service is really vulnerable.
