Rescuing a Qubes vm with a broken fstab

I feel very silly, but I am not able to figure out how to interrupt the boot of a Qubes VM, or edit the kernel command-line parameters

I recently added a LUKS “data” disk style mount to a standalone Qubes VM (not dom0) and must have borked the crypttab or fstab. So now I get a hang at systemd, “Job dev-disk-by-uuid-…”. I’ve dealt with this problem many times in virtual machines and physical workstations, but have no idea how to do this for an Qubes VM

I can see systemd struggling in the disposable console window, but at that point it’s too late to do anything other than watch it fail

Any way I can single mode the system and fix the fstab? Or what other approach can I use here?

Thanks

EDIT: I see an option to boot from an ISO - going to try to grab a Debian installer and see if I can rescue it from there … still open to better ideas that may not require downloading a large iso. Nevermind - neither the Ubuntu or Debian live ISOs are actually booting when selected, it just boots as usual

You can mount your standalone qube’s root partition in disposable and fix your issue there:
