luv it…No this is great, you show me, like you just did..but in a standalone qube.
This time Send a file to a standaloneVM from an appVM and show me where it lands in the standaloneVM.(screenshot of file in the folder or/full/path) I get output it lands but not where..
Same goes for ‘copy to qube tool’ But only for standaloneVM as target.
and i cant copy paste text …special qubes procedure isnt working…after paste hits local clipboard (notice from global clipboard) local is cleared everytime… so i was hopin the tool could help me copy/paste but i still cant do it between qubes…
super frustrating and i thought the tool was my savior…
but i still cant get the third step to paste…So it has to be me misunderstanding the third step (Ctrl V)
there is something im missing…Im gonna do a quick screen vid to talk through my steps, i dont think my written description helps someone understand/ just need a mic, and how do i run obs-studio in dom0?
I agree with this, thanks. Installing these things in dom0 is against the qubes security model.
An ‘admin’ qube seems the way to go. That said, there are quite a few of guides like this out there (installed in dom0) but I don’t see any guides with similar capabilities on a qube like an admin qube.
Perhaps a guide or some solutions to the issues the OP raised about the current limitations of executing these commands from an ‘admin qube’ would be very welcome and solve not just this but what seems to me to be a much broader class of issues.
I think you’d happily use the admin GUI tools in dom0, which also increase the attack surface. Otherwise, we should only use CLI instead of GUI python in dom0. Dom0 will have more and more GUI tools with each new version to make things easier for beginners. So, I’m confident that such a useful control panel will appear in Qubes. And I’d like the devs to add it, since the user has done a huge amount of work
honestly, I haven’t properly gotten to it yet. I did make a start, there’s a first version that meets the criteria, but it isn’t fully working yet and needs more testing. right now I don’t have the time for it, as I’m focused on paid work that has to come first
a current, fully working and tested version is already available on GitHub for anyone who wants to use it
