This post is similar to a few posts, which I’ve reviewed. None of them get me to where I need to be though.
Here’s what I did, running Qubes v4.2.4 -
1 - Tried updating dom0 using the GUI
After watching the logs for a few hours, realized the update process appeared stuck.
2 - Killed the process manually via the CLI
After killing the process, the GUI showed no dom0 updates available. This led me to believe the dom0 completed successfully, despite the ungraceful shutdown.
After the update, no qubes would open. The key log messages appear to be -
xc: panic: xg_dom_bzimageloader.c:761: xc_dom_probe_bzimage_kernel unable to XZ decompress kernel: Invalid kernel
xc: panic: xg_dom_core.c:689: xc_dom_find_loader:no loader found: Invalid kernel
What I experience is most similar to what’s reported here -
3 - I switched kernals from 6.18.15-1.qubes.fc37 back to 6.6.42-1.qubes.fc37 and I was able to open qubes again
4 - I then tried the fix suggested here -
But when I switched back to 6.18.15-1.qubes:fc37 I was unable to open qubes, so again switched back to 6.6.42-1.qubes:fc37
And this is where I am stuck.
Any suggestions on what I can do to run the current kernel would be greatly appreciated.
