Qubes won't boot on MacBook Pro 10,1

Hi,

Wondering if anyone has had any luck running Qubes 4.2.2 on a MacBook Pro 10,1 (Mid 2012, Retina).

I tried to boot from the 4.2.2 installer and:

  1. I get to the screen where I can choose to test media & install Qubes
  2. After selecting install I simply get

Warning: Could not query variable store: 0x0000000…

This old MacBook is listed on the HCL as compatible with R3.1… but I assume it’s a bad idea to run an outdated version of Qubes?

3.1 had lower requirements wrt hardware virtualization support. Yeah wouldn’t recommend trying r3.1 at this point.
