Qubes Windows 11

Windows 11 24h2 cannot be installed as TPM bypass is not working now.

Can you elaborate your post/case further?

Did you disable the TPM check according to the guide?

Good luck with the windows vm, cannot watch videos audio enabled, due to the humongous audio lag it will drive you nuts.

It sucks we can’t really use windows programs in vm without this headache.

since several months (for those who already running Insider Preview builds) it isn’t possible anymore to install from a Windows11.iso or trying to update a Insider Preview build later then Build 25290, cause the bypass hacks don’t working anymore and even the replace of the appraiserres.dll during an update to a new build taking any affect.

So everyone with Windows11 builds later then 25290 can’t install W11 on machines, with didn’t fit the system requirements.

I think I read somewhere that in VMWare this is overridden by option to encrypt the “drive” before install it in VM? Can it be “tricked” somehow in Qubes’ HVM?

It looks like clean install should work, but in-place upgrade most probably won’t. The only thing that should work should be:

I have W11 23H2. I tried to INSTALL W11 24H2 from USB created with Media Creation Tool, then using the trick of creating an empty appraiserres.dll on the USB and it works for clean installs.
Now I want to UPGRADE (not clean install) from 23H2 to 24H2 and the appraiserres.dll trick doesn’t work. So I unzip the 23H2 ISO, overwrite the install.wim and boot.wim files with the 24H2 ones and then I do the appraiserres.dll trick. Then W11 24H2 is updated correctly. Microsoft Copilot is not installed but can be downloaded for free from the Microsoft Store.

because, regarding the script, it is said

I am not planning to add extra CPU bypasses besides the main bypass from AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU (because I am pretty sure that, even if those bypass work, you will run into issues, and I don’t want to have to “support” these kind of installations).

use win11 iot ltsc enterprise as it doesnt have the tpm requirement.
