Qubes will not boot on 4K Monitor

For this to work the one should first check if it’s even available for the igpu.

$ modinfo i915 | grep ‘^parm:’

Here’s mine journalctl record for it:

Sep 27 xx:xx:33 dom0 kernel: i915: unknown parameter ‘alpha_support’ ignored

I do not see an entry for alpha_support when I run the modinfo command you specified.

However neither do I see anything related in journalctl either positive or negative so it’s possible that I didn’t update grub correctly. I updated the grub config file then grub2-mkconfig then dracut -f. Is this the correct method?

However upon successfully logging in only the background is viewable.

Did you try to set 4k as primary and the only one monitor from there (right click on the Desktop/background-> Apllications->System Tools->Display)?

I only have one monitor attached at a time. I’m having all the issues when the 4K one is attached. When it finally gets through the login there is no right click and no toolbar so it’s not possible to change any settings.

I’d try to attach 2 monitors and check what I suggested if possible.

Those options are available after you login, not at the login screen.

I know. But the symptoms of my problem are that the entire bit process is messed but but once I actually get to log in i have no toolbar or right click so whatever options there are cannot be relevant to my issue

It’s been some time and I’ve had no feedback on the details I posted. I think I need to raise a bug if nobody has any ideas?
